KYEA

Considering the Youth in All Development Strategies

History

Frustrated by the lack of employment opportunities in KTC, and the highly mobile youth population Mr. George Ssenoga-Zake approached several elites of KTC including Ssegirinya Willy, Kiyegga Felix, Bakulumpagi Peter, Ssentaba Dennis, Kayabula Julius, Ssevule Raulian and JB Bwanika. With the help of Mr. Jonathan Mellor, a United States Peace Corps Volunteer, they quickly mobilized, held a preliminary meeting to discuss the organization's vision and mission and organized a meeting of KTC elites. That meeting, held on December 16, 2007, included 21 youths from KTC. After discussing the general vision and mission the group discussed the strengths and weaknesses of KTC and elected its first Board of Directors. The Board consisted of Kayabula Julius as Chairman, Ssengirinya Willy as Vice Chairman, George Ssenoga-Zake as Publicity Secretary, Kiyegga Felix as Treasurer, JB Bwanika as Secretary, and Ssentaba Dennis, Ssevule Raulian, Bakulumpagi Peter and Jonathan Mellor as members at large. The Board subsequently drafted and ratified this constitution.
